Which flooring is best for your living room?

Floors and walls are large surfaces, therefore the style and colour of their finish will be decisive in determining the nature of the room. Walls can always be repainted after a while, but choosing a floor for your living room is a long-term decision. It should therefore be made carefully, and if you are unable to fully visualise the final result, try our handy visualiser.

To show you how it works, we selected one of the living room arrangements available in Barlinek’s visualiser and ‘designed’ it in 6 different styles. The difference is staggering – see for yourselves.

GENTLE

  • This style of interior is full of harmony and peace. A light, slightly cream-coloured living room floor with a clearly visible wood structure, knots and rings provides a delicate background for furniture and accessories. The neutral colour used on the walls enhances the effect of spaciousness.

Floor: Oak Ivory Grande and white walls.

CONTRASTING

  • The brown walls in the living room form a cohesive combination with the sofa and armchairs. The light, knot-free, wide board is the perfect background for the arrangement and makes the interior seem brighter.

Floor: Oak Harmony and brown walls.

LIVELY

  • An arrangement that uses lively and cool tones. The light pigeon blue walls juxtaposed against the very light floor add spaciousness to the interior. Contrasting brown furniture adds warmth to the arrangement.

Floor: Ash Lemon Sorbet a light blue walls.

SUNNY

  • The floor in a natural oak wood colour is juxtaposed against the subtle yellow shade of the walls. The result is a cheerful and warm interior that forms a perfect background for brown furniture.

Floor: Oak Delicious Grande and light yellow walls.

INTERESTING

  • The floor in an interesting olive-grey colour and walls in a shade of purple create an elegant interior with a definite character. Arranging the boards towards the window optically enlarges the room.

Floor Oak Olive Crostini and violet walls.

EXOTIC

  • The exotic three-strip board flooring (unlike traditional single-strip boards, three-strip looks more like a parquet stave) contrasts in a striking way with the walls in a distinctive green hue.

Floor Jatobe Titicaca and green walls.
